Basketball Game Preview: Friendship Golden Eagles vs. Andover Panthers

Friendship hasn't had much luck against Andover recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Friendship Golden Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Andover Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

Friendship is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Cuba-Rushford, falling 60-23. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 608th, while the Rebels are ranked 250th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Andover). Everything went their way against Addison on Friday as Andover made off with a 57-33 win. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on five straight.

Andover's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.3 points per game. As for Friendship, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Friendship was dealt a bruising 50-9 loss at the hands of Andover in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Friendship avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
