Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Minutemen vs. Salt Fork Storm

The Lexington Minutemen will take on the Salt Fork Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lexington sitting on four straight wins and Salt Fork on 11.

Lexington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on Heyworth with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Braeden Barber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayden Knight, who went 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Blaine Friedmansky was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Salt Fork sidestepped Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley for an 8-7 win.

Lexington's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for Salt Fork, their win bumped their record up to 23-7.
