Basketball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Peoria Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan, falling 53-30. While losing is never fun, the Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 446th, while the Caravan are ranked sixth).

It was another big night for Cameron Thomas, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 22 points for Chicago Mt. Carmel. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Best, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Peoria Notre Dame's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.

Peoria Notre Dame will challenge Peoria Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Chicago Mt. Carmel, they and Pekin will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Chicago Mt. Carmel is facing Pekin at the right time seeing as Pekin is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
