Softball Recap: North Valleys Beats Hug for Their Fifth Straight Victory

North Valleys had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Hug Hawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 22-4 last Wednesday.

Shia Sarchett made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other pitching news, Maddie Rebell looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Jordan Gainey was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Annaka Fischer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

North Valleys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hug only posted an OBP of .250.

North Valleys pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Hug, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
