Volleyball Recap: Rocky River Victorious

Rocky River won the last time they faced Vermilion and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pirates put the hurt on the Sailors with a sharp 3-0 win. The Pirates not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since September 24, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 25-21.

Lilly Cupp was the offensive standout of the match as she had nine digs and three assists.

Rocky River was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vermilion only served four aces.

Despite the defeat, Vermilion had strong showings from Delaney Russell, who had 11 digs, and Haley Stepp, who had ten digs. Russell is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Rocky River's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Vermilion, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky River will face off against Valley Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vermilion, they will welcome Clyde at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
