Softball Recap: Knox Beats Bremen for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Knox entered their tilt with Bremen on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Lions. This was payback for the Redskins, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cheryl Barnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Knox saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madalee Hinshaw, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Hinshaw a new career-high.

Knox pushed their record up to 12-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bremen, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Coming up, Knox will take on Pioneer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
