Basketball Recap: Dyana Santoyo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodlands Academy over Alden-Hebron

Woodlands Academy suffered their closest loss since January 31, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Alden-Hebron Green Giants by a score of 44-41.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dyana Santoyo, who posted 14 points along with six boards and five steals. That was a full 34.1% of Woodlands Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Lauren Janos was another key player, putting up eight points and 13 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Woodlands Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Woodlands Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Alden-Hebron, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.

Woodlands Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-26 loss against Wheaton Academy on the 10th. As for Alden-Hebron, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-13 win against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy on the 7th.
