Basketball Game Preview: Sullivan County Griffins vs. South Williamsport Mountaineers

The Sullivan County Griffins will head out to challenge the South Williamsport Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Sullivan County will head into Monday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were beaten by Sayre 64-32. The contest marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, South Williamsport's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Northwest Area and fell 70-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mountaineers have suffered since December 16, 2024.

Sullivan County dropped their record down to 8-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for South Williamsport, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.

Sullivan County strolled past South Williamsport in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 57-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sullivan County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
