Softball Recap: Madera South Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Madera South had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Firebaugh Eagles on Saturday. This was payback for the Stallions, who suffered a 12-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Gabriella Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allie Cervantes, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Madera South's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Firebaugh, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Madera South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-1 victory against Mendota on the 10th. As for Firebaugh, they will square off against Corcoran at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
