Basketball Recap: Hubbard Takes a Loss

Hubbard had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it 11. They were outmatched by the Blooming Grove Lions and fell 55-27. Jaguars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Lions since Tuesday.

Hubbard's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gage Serna, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Jt Thompson, who earned eight points.

As for Blooming Grove, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 27-point performance the game before.

Braydon Reed was nothing short of spectacular: he dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. What's more, he posted two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Stout, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Hubbard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-21 loss against Abbott on the 4th. As for Blooming Grove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-50 defeat against Itasca on the 4th.
