Basketball Recap: Branford Skates Past Union County with Ease

Branford won the last time they faced Union County and things went their way on Saturday too. The Branford Buccaneers breezed by the Union County Fightin' Tigers to the tune of 51-15. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 29 points or more this season.

Branford found their leader in freshman Amyah James, who went 11 of 15 on her way to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points James has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Barrs, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Branford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Branford now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Union County, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Branford will host Aucilla Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union County, they will head out to take on Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
