Sodus put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the North Rose-Wolcott Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Evan Laird made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Garrett Barron, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braydn Orbaker, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Sodus pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for North Rose-Wolcott, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coincidentally, Sodus and North Rose-Wolcott will both be playing Marion the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Black Knights at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Spartans will host them at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
