Basketball Recap: Shirley Drops Season-High Score on Midland

Shirley is still winless after their game against Midland on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Midland Mustangs. One positive for the Blue Devils, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Midland to victory were Riley Pruitt and Haden Pierce. Pruitt dropped a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists, while Pierce dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. Pruitt is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. Caleb Webb was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Shirley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Midland, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.

Coming up, Shirley will take on Rose Bud at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midland, they will challenge Harrisburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harrisburg will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Midland surely won't give up without a fight.
