Football Recap: Odem Skates Past Taft with Ease

Odem put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past the Taft Greyhounds to the tune of 40-6. The 40-point effort marked the Owls' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to John Hinojosa and Martin Castillo. Hinojosa rushed for 271 yards and three touchdowns while Castillo rushed for 95 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries. Those 271 rushing yards gave Hinojosa a new career-high.

Odem's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Taft, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Odem wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 36-12 loss against George West on the 10th. As for Taft, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-12 victory against Banquete on the 9th.
