Soccer Game Preview: South Aiken vs. Gilbert

The South Aiken Thoroughbreds will challenge the Gilbert Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

On Thursday, South Aiken made easy work of Midland Valley and carried off a 4-1 victory. The result was nothing new for South Aiken, who have now won six matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gilbert, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Airport with a sharp 5-1 win on Thursday. Adair Duque was a massive factor in the win as he booted in four goals all by himself.

Something new happened on Thursday as Duque saw his first action of the season, playing 20 minutes against Airport. Duque made the most of the opportunity, scoring four goals A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Gilbert's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6-2. As for South Aiken, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

South Aiken was able to grind out a solid victory over Gilbert when the teams last played last Monday, winning 2-0. Will the Thoroughbreds repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
