Football Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. San Elizario Eagles

The Irvin Rockets are taking a road trip to square off against the San Elizario Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Elizario took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Irvin, who comes in off a win.

Irvin took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-18 victory over Bowie. The Rockets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Irvin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dallas Medina, who threw for 232 yards and five TDs on only 11 passes. The dominant performance also gave Medina a new career-high in passer rating (139.2). Joseph Davila helped Medina out on the ground, rushing for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.

Irvin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, San Elizario was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Clint 49-7.

San Elizario now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Irvin, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Everything came up roses for Irvin against San Elizario when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 62-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
