Volleyball Game Preview: Pelican Rapids Vikings vs. Menahga Braves

The Pelican Rapids Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Menahga Braves at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.

Pelican Rapids came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Perham, falling 3-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 19, 2019, but that streak is no more.

Pelican Rapids was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 29-27, 25-8.

Meanwhile, Menahga hadn't done well against New York Mills recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Braves walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Eagles. The win was some much needed relief for the Braves as it spelled an end to their five-match losing streak.

Menahga's victory bumped their record up to 5-10-2. As for Pelican Rapids, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.

Pelican Rapids took their win against Menahga when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
