Volleyball Recap: Sturgeon Bay Triumphs

Sturgeon Bay posted their closest win since August 26th on Thursday. They skirted past the Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran Blazers 3-2. This was payback for the Clippers, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Sturgeon Bay got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 18-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-12.

Cora Frangipane was the offensive standout of the game as she had nine digs and two aces. Those nine digs gave her a new career-high.

Frangipane wasn't the only good server: Sturgeon Bay was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. The Clippers are 3-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Sturgeon Bay has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-15 record this season. As for Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Coming up, Sturgeon Bay will face off against Eau Claire Memorial at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. After both having extra time off, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran and Southern Door will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
