Basketball Game Preview: Otay Ranch Mustangs vs. Southwest SD Raiders

The Otay Ranch Mustangs will face off against the Southwest SD Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Otay Ranch has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.

Otay Ranch took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-60 win over Patrick Henry.

Otay Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordyn Webster led the charge by going 9 for 19 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Webster is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Johann Omae, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Southwest SD had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They claimed a resounding 74-25 victory over the Red Devils. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Southwest SD's win came from a few key players Otay Ranch will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Noah Soltero, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaun Verdida, who put up 15 points.

Southwest SD's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.2 points per game. As for Otay Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
