Baseball Recap: Dow Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Dow had won four straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 8-2 to make it five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mt. Pleasant Oilers a 1-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the Chargers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

As for Mt. Pleasant, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

For Mt. Pleasant's part, Aryan Punjabi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Punjabi also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Oilers are 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

Coming up, Dow will face off against Alpena on Saturday. As for Mt. Pleasant, they will square off against Grosse Pointe South at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
