Recap: Waverly Vikings vs. Mount Michael Benedictine Knights
The Waverly Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Mount Michael Benedictine 50-45. Waverly was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mount Michael Benedictine apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Waverly lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reece Bader, who scored 14 points. Ashton Heffelfinger was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Mount Michael Benedictine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Griffin Snyder led the charge by scoring 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Skahan, who scored 13 points.
Waverly dropped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Elkhorn North at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. Elkhorn North has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 406 points over their last six contests. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, they will be playing at home against Gross Catholic on Tuesday.
