Football Recap: Upland Comes Up Short

Upland's last matchup with Rancho Cucamonga could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Highlanders/Scots took a blow against the Cougars, falling 42-7. The Highlanders/Scots' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Lequand (Jack Jack) Jackson threw for 53 yards on four of 13 attempts. On the ground, Jay Johnson Jr rushed for 44 yards.

Rancho Cucamonga's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Chambers, who threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score. What's more, Chambers racked up 158.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. James Strong III helped Chambers out on the ground, rushing for 145 yards and one score while picking up 8.5 yards per carry.

Upland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Rancho Cucamonga, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Upland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-14 loss against Damien on the 16th. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they have also already played their next matchup, a 41-0 win against Ayala on the 16th.
