Volleyball Recap: Union County Takes a Loss

Union County lost against Sonoraville back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Panthers fell just short of the Phoenix by a score of 2-1.

Union County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, Union County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Samantha Combs had ten digs and two assists.

Sonoraville was led to victory by Aubreigh Dixon and Rayne Gibson. Dixon had 16 digs and five assists, while Gibson had six digs. Those six digs gave Gibson a new career-high.

Union County's loss dropped their record down to 24-14. As for Sonoraville, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 29-16.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Union County will challenge rival Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sonoraville is set to take on their familiar foe North Cobb Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
