Basketball Game Preview: Hamilton Aggies vs. Winfield Pirates

The Hamilton Aggies will take on the Winfield Pirates at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hamilton fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Red Bay on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Aggies' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Hamilton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Chandler, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 18 points, and Mason Holloway, who posted 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Chandler continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Robinson, who scored eight points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Winfield). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Haleyville 68-38. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Winfield's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Hamilton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Hamilton suffered a grim 84-63 defeat to Winfield when the teams last played back in January. Can the Aggies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
