Basketball Recap: Granite Prospectors vs. Powell County Wardens

Granite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 42-31 to the Powell County Wardens. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Prospectors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-39 back in December of 2024.

Powell County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shawn Lombardi, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. Lombardi is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Henze, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Granite's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Powell County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

When Granite and Powell County next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Granite will try to stop Lincoln's five-game winning streak when the meet at 5:00 p.m. on January 25th. Similarly, Powell County will try to stop Florence-Carlton's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
