Baseball Recap: Hurley Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Hurley lost to Wheaton back in May of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-5 win.

Mason Dunn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Hurley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-12-1 otherwise. Dunn was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caysen Youngblood, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jordan Cloud also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Hurley's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13-1. As for Wheaton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9-1.

Looking ahead, Hurley will face off against Bradleyville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheaton, they will challenge Verona at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
