Volleyball Recap: Torrey Pines Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Xavier College Prep

Torrey Pines is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Xavier College Prep. The Falcons fell just short of the Gators by a score of 2-1. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2017.

Finley Krystkowiak paced Torrey Pines' offense, picking up eight kills. Krystkowiak got some help from Emery Gonzales and her 24 assists. Krystkowiak was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Xavier College Prep can attribute much of their success to Mattea Saunders, who had 18 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Saunders has posted over her last six matches.

As for Xavier College Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Sierra Canyon on the 20th.
