Baseball Recap: Deer Creek-Mackinaw Falls Short of Prairie Central in the Playoffs

Deer Creek-Mackinaw and Prairie Central squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Deer Creek-Mackinaw had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 6-5. The Chiefs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Chuck Hathaway made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs. Deer Creek-Mackinaw is 4-1 when Hathaway posts three or more hits, but 11-15 otherwise. Hunter Fogle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw now has a losing record of 15-16. As for Prairie Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-23 record this season.

Deer Creek-Mackinaw does not have any more games scheduled as of now. After both having extra time off, Prairie Central and Mt. Pulaski will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 1:00 p.m. on June 29.
