Baseball Recap: North Duplin Comes Up Short

North Duplin fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against East Duplin on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by just one run.

Garris Warren was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for North Duplin: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Hunt Pate was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

North Duplin now has a losing record of 4-5. As for East Duplin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

North Duplin will face off against Hobbton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Duplin's pitchers better be ready for this one: Hobbton has averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for East Duplin, they will welcome South Lenoir at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
