Softball Preview: Red Bank Lions vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Red Bank Lions will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
Red Bank can't be to happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to Ooltewah. The Lions have struggled against the Owls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame hadn't done well against Lookout Valley recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went Notre Dame's way against Lookout Valley as Notre Dame made off with a 17-5 win. The Fighting Irish not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14, 2024.
Kaylee Pendergrass was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pendergrass was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Scarlett Hughes and Dalana Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Hughes went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Brown scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Anastasia Zendejas was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
