Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Find Success

After losing to Ajo the last time they met, Heritage Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Heroes walked away with a 7-4 win over the Red Raiders on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Heroes.

Maverik Ray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Heritage Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, David Mota was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Heritage Academy: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-4 otherwise.

The victory got Heritage Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Ajo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Heritage Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 win against New Way Learning Academy on the 21st. Ajo has also already played their next matchup (against Holy Family Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
