Basketball Recap: Classical Academy Takes a Loss

Classical Academy lost against Calvin Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Classical Academy Caimans fell 48-41 to the Calvin Christian Crusaders.

When it comes to explaining why Classical Academy lost, don't look at Joseph Lanzone. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points.

Calvin Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Lapka, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Goggin, who earned 16 points and eight boards.

Classical Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Calvin Christian, they moved to 7-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chula Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calvin Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Orange Glen at 6:00 p.m. Calvin Christian is facing Orange Glen at the right time seeing as Orange Glen is stuck on a 21-game losing streak.
