Baseball Game Preview: Woodland Regional Hawks vs. Morgan Huskies

The Woodland Regional Hawks will challenge the Morgan Huskies at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Woodland Regional's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Portland. Considering the Hawks have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Charlie Napoleone's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Woodland Regional is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 11-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Woodland Regional got a massive performance out of Tyler DeCrescenzo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The Hawks are 5-1 when DeCrescenzo posts two or more runs, but 11-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brett Lato, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Morgan made easy work of University on Monday and carried off a 21-1 victory. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Huskies this season.

Woodland Regional is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan, their victory bumped their record up to 17-8.
