Basketball Recap: Sharon Springs Central Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Sharon Springs Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Raiders by a score of 49-39 on Friday. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Raiders, too.

Sharon Springs Central was led to victory by Zarie Barbic and Peyton Barbic. Zarie posted ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Peyton dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Zarie a new career-high in assists (two).

Sharon Springs Central's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1. As for Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sharon Springs Central and Cherry Valley-Springfield will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Franklin Central at 7:00 p.m.
