Softball Game Preview: Eureka Hornets vs. Fieldcrest Knights

The Eureka Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Fieldcrest Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eureka made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Tri-Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hornets fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Fieldcrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Fisher, falling 15-1.

Eureka's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Fieldcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Eureka came out on top in a nail-biter against Fieldcrest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
