Softball Recap: Elgin Maroons vs. Wheeling Wildcats
Elgin extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They lost 12-1 to the Wheeling Wildcats. The Maroons were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
As for Wheeling, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
For Wheeling's part, Olivia Aquino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk).
