Softball Game Preview: Wethersfield Eagles vs. Platt Panthers

The Wethersfield Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Platt Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Wethersfield and 16 for Platt.

Things were looking good for Wethersfield after they put the first run on the board two weeks ago, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Berlin by a score of 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Platt fell victim to Maloney and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 18-0. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly 18 runs.

Wethersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Platt, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.

Everything went Wethersfield's way against Platt in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Wethersfield made off with a 14-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
