Recap: Mount View Golden Knights vs. Van Bulldogs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wyoming East, the Mount View Golden Knights were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-33 victory over Van. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mount View also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Mount View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthias Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Hale, who scored 21 points along with four steals.
Mount View's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Van, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Mount View will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bluefield at 6:45 p.m. Bluefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mount View in West Virginia (Bluefield is ranked 13th, while Mount View is ranked 104th). As for Van, they will head out on the road to face off against Tolsia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Tolsia's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Van has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
