Baseball Game Preview: Faith Christian Lions vs. Winterboro Bulldogs

Faith Christian has gone 8-2 against Winterboro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Faith Christian Lions will host the Winterboro Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Faith Christian's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Winterboro has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Faith Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Saks with a sharp 17-5 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 7.3 runs per game.

Toby Ricard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Canden Martin was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Martin is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Smith, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Winterboro came up short against Sylacauga on Tuesday, falling 14-2.

Winterboro saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jamari Nicks, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Winterboro's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Faith Christian, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2.

Faith Christian took their win against Winterboro in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Will Faith Christian repeat their success, or does Winterboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
