Baseball Recap: Lawrence County's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Lawrence County dropped their record down to 15-15 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of Central Magnet by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Lawrence County got a good showing from Callum McCawley, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McCawley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lawrence County got a massive performance out of Alex Bedford, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Bedford is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Brooks Durham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

As for Central Magnet, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Central Magnet's side, Joseph Rowell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those four hits gave Rowell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of John Roth, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

As of now, neither Lawrence County nor Central Magnet have any future games scheduled.
