Basketball Game Preview: Watseka Warriors vs. Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils

Watseka hasn't had much luck against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Watseka Warriors will take on the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Watseka is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 43-30 win over Iroquois West. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Monticello by a score of 56-49. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Sages are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin's win came from a few key players Watseka will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chaz Dubois, who posted 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. What's more, he posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Micah Stanford, who to rack up 17 points.

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-1. As for Watseka, their record is now 12-18.

Things could have been worse for Watseka, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-49 loss to Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Watseka avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
