Basketball Game Preview: McDonough Warhawks vs. Eagle's Landing Eagles

McDonough is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Eagle's Landing is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The McDonough Warhawks will host the Eagle's Landing Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McDonough knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Eagle's Landing likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, McDonough earned a 74-64 win over Ola. Given the Warhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Mustangs are ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McDonough had a senior duo take command as Zion Greene went 11 for 16 en route to 24 points and eight steals and Zaiden Greene dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 boards, and ten assists. Zion has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathadeus Fambro, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

McDonough smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Eagle's Landing was able to grind out a solid victory over Stockbridge on Saturday, taking the game 62-50.

McDonough has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Eagle's Landing, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.

McDonough came out on top in a nail-biter against Eagle's Landing in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 71-69. Will McDonough repeat their success, or does Eagle's Landing have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
