Basketball Recap: Jenna Jordan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mckeel Academy over Mulberry

McKeel Academy lost a heartbreaker to Mulberry when they met back in January of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. The McKeel Academy Wildcats fell 53-44 to the Mulberry Panthers. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

McKeel Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jenna Jordan, who posted 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Jordan has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Anderson, who put up 16 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, McKeel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

McKeel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Mulberry, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy will host Lakeland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mulberry, they will face off against Sebring at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
