Baseball Game Preview: Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars vs. La Crescent Lancers

The Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars will challenge the La Crescent Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Zumbrota-Mazeppa is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Zumbrota-Mazeppa came up short against Caledonia and fell 8-4.

Meanwhile, La Crescent beat Lewiston-Altura 11-7 on Thursday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

La Crescent pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa came out on top in a nail-biter against La Crescent in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
