Rock Island and Limestone are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Rocks will challenge the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Rock Island is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Alleman on Monday. They fell 5-2 to the Pioneers.

Metamora hit Limestone with a four-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redbirds. Rockets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Redbirds since on Monday.

Bryce Chapman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

Limestone's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-12. As for Rock Island, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Rock Island took their victory against Limestone in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rocks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
