Softball Game Preview: Hazen Highlanders vs. Inglemoor Vikings

Hazen is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Inglemoor Vikings at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hazen is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Lindbergh. Everything went Hazen's way against Lindbergh on Friday as Hazen made off with a 25-8 victory. The win continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Mia Mennillo, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Cushman, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Inglemoor). They blew past Roosevelt 9-2 on Friday.

Malin Homes (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Alexa Saladin (2025) (PLU) was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Emilie Desilet (2026) was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Inglemoor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
