Basketball Game Preview: Millard West Wildcats vs. Lincoln North Star Navigators

Millard West and Lincoln North Star are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Millard West Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Lincoln North Star Navigators at 3:45 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Millard West is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since January 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Creighton Prep by a score of 74-71. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Junior Jays are ranked 12th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Carter LaBorde, who went 7 for 11 en route to 17 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Carson, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Lincoln North Star against Norfolk on Friday as the team secured a 77-39 win. The Navigators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 31 points or more this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Millard West and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Lincoln North Star, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
