Volleyball Recap: Willowbrook Comes Up Short

Willowbrook lost against Andrew back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Warriors fell just short of the Thunderbolts by a score of 2-1. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunderbolts 25-12 in the first set.

Willowbrook actually scored more points across those three sets (67-62), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 12-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Andrew got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Zakowski out in front who had 13 digs and two assists. Another player making a difference was Sean Gagen, who had 11 assists and four digs.

Willowbrook's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-23. As for Andrew, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-18.

Looking ahead, Willowbrook will take on Tournament Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Andrew, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Sandburg on the 8th.
