Basketball Game Preview: Lourdes Eagles vs. Byron Bears

The Lourdes Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Byron Bears at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lourdes has struggled recently with 11 defeats in a row, while Byron will arrive with eight straight victories.

Last Friday, Lourdes came up short against Cannon Falls and fell 74-65. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Bombers are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Byron hadn't done well against Stewartville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Byron walked away with a 65-53 win over Stewartville.

Lourdes' loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Byron, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Lourdes took a serious blow against Byron in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 75-41. Can Lourdes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
