Baseball Game Preview: Taylor Wildcats vs. Lake Mary Prep Griffins

The Taylor Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Lake Mary Prep Griffins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Taylor took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mainland 5-4.

Taylor's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew Moyer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. The Wildcats are undefeated when Moyer posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another was Alex Ramos, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lake Mary Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Circle Christian on Monday and fell 9-8. The Griffins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Taylor pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Mary Prep, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Everything went Taylor's way against Lake Mary Prep in their previous matchup back in February, as Taylor made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
